The most common term for a small brass instrument resembling a small version of a regular trumpet is simply "trumpet." This is the one you typically think of when someone says "I play the trumpet," and its used in both military bands and orchestras.

If youre referring to a smaller, higher-pitched version of a trumpet, you would use the term "piccolo trumpet" or "flugelhorn." Piccolo trumpets are often played by children or for special effects in music, as their sound is brighter and more delicate than a standard trumpet.

在日常对话中，如果只是简单地介绍你在演奏一种小号，你可能会说"I play the trumpet" 或者 "Im a trumpet player."
